Savory Waffles with Honey and Sriracha

Savory Waffles with Honey and Sriracha

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp. thyme leaves, chopped
  • 1 tbsp. chives, chopped
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. ground black pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • Non-stick spray
  • Honey, for drizzling
  • Homemade Sriracha sauce, or store bought
  • 6 scallions, thinly sliced, for garnish

Directions

  1. In a large bowl whisk to combine flour, thyme, chives, salt, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and black pepper. Reserve.

  2. In another bowl whisk together the eggs, buttermilk and melted butter. Gently whisk wet ingredients into the dry until just incorporated, be careful not to over mix. Let mixture sit for 10 minutes while the waffle iron comes to heat.

  3. Spray waffle iron with non-stick spray. Ladle the recommended amount of batter into the iron and cook per manufactures' directions or until golden brown.

  4. Serve waffles with honey, homemade Sriracha and green onions.
